Search everything from one box, and rebuilt Solar PV and Battery forms that fill in your MCS documents for you.

Why this matters
When a customer rings, you have a name, a phone number or a job reference, and you need the record in front of you. Search now looks across the whole platform at once, so you can type what you have and get straight to it.
At a glance:
- Search covers jobs, customers, clients, quotations, appointments, invoices, products and settings.
- Results are grouped by type, and one tap narrows them to a single type.
- Job references, invoice numbers, phone numbers and email addresses match exactly. Names match even when you only type part of them.
- Every result opens in the right place: a quotation opens its preview, an appointment opens the scheduler on that day.
- A full results page shows everything that matched, a tab per type.
- Settings pages are searchable too, down to individual options.
- The Solar PV, Battery and EV forms are shorter, with installation and commissioning checks as walk-round checklists.
- Six MCS Solar PV and Battery documents are produced from the form answers and the job record, with your branding.
Search from the toolbar
Start typing in the search box at the top of any page. After three characters, results appear grouped by type, each with its own colour, so you can see at a glance whether you are looking at a job, a quotation or an appointment.
Click a result and it opens where you would expect:
- Quotation: the quotation preview for that job.
- Invoice: the job’s payments page, on the Invoices tab.
- Appointment: the scheduler, in day view, on the appointment’s date.
- Product: the product catalogue, filtered to that product.
New and edited records show up in search within a few seconds of saving.
Narrow it down
The filters along the top of the results show one type at a time. Pick Customers and only customers are listed. Pick it again, or pick All, to see everything.
Exact where it counts
Job references, quotation references, invoice numbers, phone numbers and email addresses match exactly, so the record you asked for comes first and a near miss does not crowd it out. You can still type the first few characters of a reference to find it.
Phone numbers work however you type them: with or without spaces, and with or without the international dialling code. Names are more forgiving, so Smith finds Smith-Jones.
See every result
Choose See all results at the bottom of the dropdown to open the Search everything page. The All tab gives an overview of each type. Every other tab lists all its matches with paging, and each tab shows how many results it holds.
You can refine the search from the page itself, and the address in your browser keeps the search term, so you can bookmark a search or share it with a colleague.
Find any setting
Search also finds your settings. Type tax and you get the Tax & VAT page and the individual options on it, each with the path to where it lives. Choose an option and installHUB opens the page with that option highlighted.
Settings that are not on your current plan still appear, marked with a lock, so you can see what is available.
Shared work
Jobs that another company in your network shares with you appear in your search, along with their customer and appointments. When the share ends, they drop out of your results.
Rebuilt Solar PV and Battery forms
The standard Solar PV, Battery and EV forms have been rebuilt to ask less and follow the order of a real job: a customer questionnaire, the survey (roof first), the survey outcome and string plan, installation, then handover. Questions only appear when an earlier answer makes them relevant.
Installation and commissioning checks are now walk-round checklists on the completion forms. The installer ticks each check as they go, grouped by the part of the system they are standing at.
Some details now fill themselves in:
- Installation date: taken from the completed install visit. You can still type a different date.
- DNO: worked out from the MPAN. An MPAN corrected on the DNO form takes priority.
Operatives should update the installHUB app to the latest version to get the best experience with the new forms.
MCS documents, filled in for you
Six MCS documents are produced automatically from the form answers and the job record:
- Solar PV & Battery Survey Form
- Solar PV Installation Checklist
- Solar PV Commissioning Checklist
- Solar PV Array Test Form
- Battery Testing Checklist
- Battery Commissioning Checklist
Each checklist line shows pass, fail or N/A from the walk-round answers, and lines that cannot apply (for example, battery checks on a solar-only job) are marked N/A for you. Every document carries your company branding.
While a job is open, its documents update when the job, the customer or your company details change. When the job is completed, the documents are fixed as they stood at completion. Jobs in the Republic of Ireland get the Irish battery commissioning wording.
Availability
Search is available on every plan. There is nothing to switch on: use the search box at the top of any page.
The rebuilt forms and MCS documents are live for every company using the Solar PV, Battery Storage and combined Solar, Battery and EV job types.
