September 2026: OpenSolar Integration

Pro plan and later

Design and sell in OpenSolar. The moment a project is sold it arrives in installHUB as a job, priced, with the proposal attached and the deposit already recorded.

For: Solar installers designing in OpenSolar

Why this matters

A sold solar project has already been designed, priced and agreed. Everything the installation needs is sitting in OpenSolar: the customer, the address, the system, the proposal the customer signed and the deposit they paid. Getting that into the system that runs the install has meant retyping it.

Connect OpenSolar once and it comes across on its own. The customer, the job, the product types, a priced quotation marked accepted, the deposit and the proposal and contract PDFs. The job lands ready to schedule. As you schedule and complete it, the install date and workflow stage go back to OpenSolar, so the board your design team watches stays current without anyone updating it twice.

At a glance:

  • Sold OpenSolar projects arrive as installHUB jobs, priced, with the proposal and contract attached.
  • The deposit the customer already paid is recorded against the job.
  • Install dates and workflow stages write back to OpenSolar as the job progresses.
  • Every imported job says which OpenSolar project it came from and links to the design.
  • Any installHUB job can start its own OpenSolar project.
  • Survey answers and site photographs can be pushed back to the OpenSolar project.
  • Every import is recorded, and one that brought in the wrong set can be rolled back.

Three ways to run it

Three ways to run OpenSolar with installHUB, each showing the same six job stages colour-coded by system. Installation only: OpenSolar owns design, quote and accepted, installHUB owns install and complete. Quotation in installHUB: OpenSolar owns design, installHUB owns everything from quote onward. Lead generation in installHUB: installHUB owns the lead, OpenSolar owns design, installHUB owns the rest.

How much of the job lifecycle you run in installHUB is your call, and all three of these work.

OpenSolar does the design in all three. What changes is where installHUB picks the job up: at install, at the quote, or right at the enquiry. Where your leads come from is your own affair in the first two.

What comes across

An accepted quote becomes a job

When an OpenSolar project is sold, installHUB creates the customer, the job and the product types, writes a priced quotation marked accepted, mirrors the deposit, and attaches the proposal and contract PDFs. The job lands at Quotation accepted, so it drops straight into Jobs needing scheduling. Nobody retypes an address or re-attaches a PDF.

It stays in step

installHUB writes the install date and the workflow stage back to OpenSolar as the job is scheduled and completed, so the board your design team watches stays current. An hourly pass reconciles anything a live update missed.

Survey answers go back

Answers captured on the site survey, and the photographs taken with them, can be pushed to the OpenSolar project, so the designer working on a revision is looking at what the surveyor actually found.

Set it up once

First, turn on API access in OpenSolar

installHUB reads your projects through OpenSolar’s API, and that is a paid OpenSolar product rather than something we can switch on for you. In OpenSolar, go to Control, then Integrations & Services, and turn on either API Access or Raw Data API Access. OpenSolar bill it from your OpenSolar Wallet and start a 30 day free trial when you first enable it. Changes take up to five minutes to reach us.

Then connect installHUB

In installHUB, open Settings, then Integrations, and choose Connect OpenSolar. Sign in with the OpenSolar account you want installHUB to use, including your two-factor code if you have two-factor turned on. If that login can see more than one OpenSolar organisation, you pick which one to connect.

installHUB converts that login to an OpenSolar machine user as it connects. Ordinary OpenSolar tokens expire after seven days, so without it you would be reconnecting every week.

Once connected, the card checks which OpenSolar plan the organisation is on and shows you exactly what it can import. If no project has come through yet it works that out from your first one.

What Raw Data adds

Most of what installHUB imports arrives on either tier. Raw Data API Access changes how much detail comes with the money and the performance figures, and it is the only tier that carries custom data on systems.

Raw Data is priced above API Access and replaces it rather than adding to it, so you are on one or the other. OpenSolar publish the current rates for your region in their own Help Centre, and both tiers are billed from your OpenSolar Wallet.

You do not have to decide up front. Connect on API Access, and if you later want itemised quotations, turn Raw Data on in OpenSolar. installHUB notices the change and starts importing the extra detail without anything being reconnected.

On the job

The job says where it came from

Any job that came across carries a badge on its header, with the date it arrived and its OpenSolar project number. The button beside it opens that design in OpenSolar, so a question about panel layout or string design is one click from the job.

Or send one the other way

An enquiry that arrives by phone or through your website can start its design in OpenSolar without being retyped. Create in OpenSolar sits in the job’s Action menu, and the customer, address and site details go across with it.

See what came across, and undo it

Every import is recorded as a run, with what it brought in, what it skipped and anything that failed. Open a run to see the individual projects and where each one landed.

A run that pulled in the wrong set can be rolled back. The rollback removes only the jobs that nobody has touched since they arrived and clears their links to OpenSolar, so a job your team has already worked on is never taken away underneath them. Anything it leaves behind is listed, with the reason.

Availability

The OpenSolar integration is available on the Pro plan and later. Connect it from Settings, Integrations with the OpenSolar account you want installHUB to use.
